Scott House Museum Art Discovery tours

Take a step back in time where little has changed in Sir Peter Scott’s home.

​Explore his remarkable artistic career through some of his most significant paintings, and other mediums of his art, as well as the works of other artists which makes this one of the most impressive private collections of wildlife art in the country.

Peter Scott was a remarkable man who led an extraordinary life. Conservationist, scientist, broadcaster, writer, sportsman, Olympian, artist; in any one of his chosen fields he would have been remembered as someone who made a difference.

Of all these fields it was art that was the most important to him and occupied him most directly throughout his life.

He made his living from his art, sold numerous paintings during his lifetime, used his artistic skills in support of his scientific and conservation work and created a remarkable body of natural history painting.

About the tour:

  • Find out how Sir Peter Scott began his lifelong passion with art.
  • Take a tour of Scott House bursting at the seams with his personal belongings – from rarely seen drawings usually kept in our archive to the tools he used to compose his artworks.
  • Experience the inspiring views from Sir Peter Scott’s studio over his beloved lake – the Rushy Pen.
  • Explore the 1950s home full of Scott artwork and other artists he chose to hang on the walls of their home.
  • Hear about how notebook drawings from his worldwide travels created one of the most important collections of scientific wildlife illustration of the 20th century.
  • Pre-booking is essential. Please follow the link below to book your tickets.                             

Meeting point: 10 minutes before the tour start times, please wait by the Peter Scott exhibition.

Cost: Included with admission to the centre. There is no additional charge for this tour, however we kindly ask visitors to make a voluntary donation to help us preserve the Scott House Museum for future generations. If you need to cancel, please allow someone else to take your space by emailing us on tickets@wwt.org.uk

Date and time: Tours run at 11am and 1.30pm every Tuesday subject to availability. Tours last for approximately 1 hour.

The Art Discovery tours will replace the standard Scott House Museum tours on Tuesdays wherever possible. The standard tours will continue to be available on other days of the week.
